This sample shows how to draw a scene into an equirect layer. Equirect layer is similar in terms of its advantage over projection. It can be used for rendering static background like cube layer, but because it's mapping a square shaped image over a sphere, distortion will need to happen for correctly rendering objects. This is fine for rendering dedicated 360 images, but if we want to add objects to the background, we will need to apply distortion to these objects to ensure they are rendered correctly, whereas using cube layer can eliminate this process. Thus, the real edge of using equirect layer over cube layer is to show 180/360 video. Back
